How to keep track of several AI coding agents at once
Updated 6 November 2026
Short answer: give every agent one shared place to report to. When each session writes its task, its status and what it changed to the same board, you check one screen instead of every terminal. Grafizum is a free board built for exactly this: Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and any MCP client connect with one command and update it themselves.
Why it gets hard after three agents
- You cannot see which session is waiting for your approval.
- Two agents fix the same thing, because neither knows the other touched it.
- A new session starts from zero, and you explain the project again.
- Nothing records what happened while you were away.
The common approaches, and where each one stops working
- One terminal tab per agent (tmux, cmux): fine for two or three sessions, hard to scan beyond that.
- A todo.md or CLAUDE.md per repository: good memory, but it goes stale fast and only covers one repository.
- A general task tool with an MCP server (Linear, Jira): works, but it is built for human teams, not for agents writing updates every few minutes.
- A board built for agents: each agent takes the next task, records what it changed and moves it to review, and you read the result in one place.
How it works in Grafizum
- Add the MCP server — one line in
.mcp.jsonor one command — and approve the connection once in the browser. Setup for every client. - Each agent reads the open tasks of the project it is working in.
- Every update is saved with the agent that made it, so you can see who did what and when.
- You review in one place, and the next session starts where the last one stopped.
It works with Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI, Windsurf, Cline, Zed, VS Code and any other client that speaks MCP.
Questions
How do I keep track of several Claude Code, Codex or Cursor sessions at once?
Give every agent one shared place to report to. When each session writes its task, its status and what it changed to the same board, you check one screen instead of every terminal, and you can see which session is waiting for you.
How do I stop a coding agent from forgetting the project between sessions?
Keep conventions in CLAUDE.md or AGENTS.md, and keep the state of the work — what is done, what is blocked, what was decided — somewhere the agent reads at the start of every session and updates as it works, such as a task board connected over MCP.
Is there a free tool for this?
Grafizum has a free plan: two active projects, 500 automated updates a month, unlimited connected agents, no card. It works with Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Gemini CLI and any other MCP client.
